Hot Air Balloon rides Port Douglas Australia

Port Douglas, one of the key departure points for hot air balloon rides in Australia, is also considered the closest access point to visit the Outer Barrier Reef, in Australia. The township of Port Douglas is 70km north of Cairns Airport and lies between the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the World Heritage listed zone of rainforest and national parks.

The route to Port Douglas is a very scenic one. Highlights include the Rex Lookout, the Crocodile Farm, Oak Beach and Mowbray Valley on the left as you drive north and to the right is the coastal views where the rainforest meets the reef. On a good day look for the views north, to Thortons Peak and Cape Tribulation.
